# Chat Sharing

Chat Sharing turns your AI conversations into shareable knowledge. Generate a link to share a chat with your workspace, so others can see exactly what was created and how it got there.

Use it when you want to share useful AI work with teammates or send outputs to people inside your organization without copying everything into another tool.

### How to use Chat Sharing

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Open the Share menu In your chat window, click **Share** in the top-right corner.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Copy the link Click **Copy link** to generate and copy the shareable URL. You can then paste it anywhere you want to share the chat with your team.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Update or revoke access later Open the Share menu again anytime to stop sharing or manage the link.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### What recipients can see

People opening the link can view the shared chat in read-only format, including:

* your prompts
* AI responses, including the reasoning and thinking process
* generated files, which they can download

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** Your uploaded files are not included in shared chats.
{% endhint %}

### Important notes

* Shared chats are currently available only within your organization
* Shared chats do not appear in the recipient's sidebar
* Access is available only through the shared link
* Updates are reflected when the page is refreshed, not in real time
* Some workspaces may have Chat Sharing turned off by an admin

### FAQs

**Who can open a shared chat?**\
Currently, shared chats are limited to users in your workspace.

**Can someone continue the shared chat?**\
No. Shared chats are view-only.

**Can I stop sharing a chat?**\
Yes. You can make a chat private anytime from the Share menu. This deactivates the current link and stops anyone from accessing it.

**Does the link change if I update access?**\
Yes. A new link is generated each time you change the access level. If you switch to private, the previous link becomes inactive. When you share again, you'll need to copy and share the new link

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.nexos.ai/workspace/chat/chat-sharing.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
